Slytherin Crest.png
Full Name: Darcy Costigan
Age: 17
Year: 7th
Gender: Female
Blood Status: Half
Wand Description: 11", Hornbeam, Dragon Heartstring

Height: 5' 6"

Eye Colour: Dark brown
Hair Colour: Black
Physical Attributes: Darcy was born with her father's thick black hair, deep espresso eyes and olive complexion, while she inherited her thin nose and full, wide mouth from her mother. She stands at roughly 5'6 and weighs 125lbs, giving her a slender frame with a fair measure of femininity. She has a small linier scar on the underside of her chin from a fall when she was a child.
Accessories in general: A small silver band that was given to her by her mother on her 15th birthday. She wears it on the ring finger of her left hand. It has no magical properties.
Usual out of uniform attire: While not in uniform she wears mainly robes of either black or dark blue, along with what would be considered 'proper' wizard attire.
Bed-wear: She alternates frequently between a black satin chemise, and a knee length, cotton nightgown of the same color.

Behind her scathing tongue and air of unflappable confidence, is a storm of self-hate that would have a weaker witch leaping off the nearest cliff. She is quick to take altercations to the next level if her heritage is brought into question after having cried herself to sleep nearly every night of her first year due to the older girls relentless taunting. However her nearly constant feelings of inadequacy are hidden carefully beneath a layer of sneering disdain for anything to do with muggles, or anyone that favors them equal to wizards. Her biting wit and fierce temper serve as a carefully cultivated defense against anyone that would try to make her feelworse about herself than she already does.

Darcy's father walked out on her mother not long after she was conceived, forcing her to be raised by a single mother on a farm not far outside of Avoca, in Wicklow, Ireland. From the moment that Darcy was able to understand the difference between muggles and witches, her mother began filling her head with anti-muggle rhetoric. She had been destroyed when Antonio left, but that pain had festered and boiled into hate.

Somewhere along the line she had convinced herself that his inability to love her, stemmed directly from the fact that he was a muggle, and she wasted no time making sure Darcy knew the truth. She taught her daughter to hate, and pushed her bitterness into Darcy's heart. She even went so far as to tell her daughter that the side of her that was her father was something to be ashamed of.

Her curiosity about her father was not tolerated, and any attempt she made to find out more about him was crushed beyond belief. As with anything; if you are told something enough-especially as a child, you begin to believe it, and Darcy did. She grew to believe that muggles were indeed the enemy. People void of magic that would do anything in their power to attain it. She grew to hate the very blood that pumped through her veins, and made the decision early on that she would not fail her mother. She would bring harm to the ilk that had hurt her, and she would strive to achieve great things.

Her ambition was fueled be the endless taunts she received throughout her early years at Hogwarts. The snide comments made about her heritage originally wounded Darcy to her very core, but as the years progressed they only motivated her to try harder, to do better. As the years passed the taunts and jeers came with a lot less frequency. Perhaps the other students grew tired of the same old lines. Maybe they had found a new school-mate to torture to the point of tears. Or perhaps it had a little more to do with Darcy's increasingly violent retaliations and the trip of one Slytherin boy to the infirmary after he called her a "half breed" near the end of her sixth year.

Now with the beginning of her last year at Hogwarts underway, she has once again buried herself in school work. Pushing to earn the highest marks possible so that she can prove- if only to herself, that she is good enough, and that she is worthy of her magic.

Pet/Familiar: Breasal, a three year old Bengal Cat with a black and grey marbled coat.
Friends: Most Slytherins. She tends to only socialize with people from her own house.
Enemies: None that she could name, though she harbors a general dislike for most people. Assuming- usually falsely, that they would judge her for her blood status. She finds it easier to keep people at arm's reach than to be judged for something that she has no hope of changing.
Other: Darcy is bi-lingual; Irish(Gaelic) and English, and has been known to intermingle the two when her temper flares.

Mother: Ava Costigan
Father: Antonio Crespo
Siblings: None on her mother's side. Unknown on her father's.
Grandparents: Darcy's mother never met Antonio's family, and it is unlikely that she would have told Darcy about them even if she had met them. Her grandparents on her mother's side are Elaine and Christopher Costigan, both deceased

Nationality: Spanish/Irish
Birthplace: Wicklow, Ireland
Broom (if applicable): Cleansweep Eleven
Your characters view on Voldemort: She both fears him, and respects the name he has made for himself. He came from nothing and became the most notorious wizard of their time, but his pure blood views coupled with the disappearances of students makes her more than only slightly uneasy.
Favourite subject and why: She has several; Transfiguration because she hopes to one day be an Animagus, though she is quite unwilling to go to Professor McGonagall for assistance because of the older witch's house affiliation. Potions not only because it is taught by her Head of House, but also because she understands that while there might be 'unforgivable curses' there are no 'unforgivable potions'. The possibilities in that area are endless. Finally; Care of Magical Creatures for the simple fact that it reminds her of being out on her mother's farm outside of Avoca.
Most disliked subject and why: History of Magic simply because it bored her to tears, which is why she is not taking the class in her 7th year. As far as her least favorite from those she chose to take, she would have to pick Ancient Runes. Also because of the boredom factor, but more because she has a harder time in that class than she does the others.
Favourite Professor and why: Professor's Snape and Marie. One is her Head of House and the other is a recent graduate of Hogwarts and Slytherin Alum.
Most disliked Professor and why: Professor Bathsheda Babbling for no other reason than she teaches the class that Darcy has the most trouble with.
Favourite Professional/School Quidditch team: Slytherin
Hobbies: Studying, riding horses (at home), reading, playing Quidditch, helping Hagrid with his creatures when she has the time, watching the Slytherin dramas unravel.
Likes: Horses, Learning, Breasal, Slytherin, fruits and veggies, being right, arguing, rain, nature, swimming
Dislikes: Her father, sweets, meat, people who are cruel to animals, anyone that tries to make her look bad, humidity

Plans for your character's future: I would like for her to be on the Slytherin Quidditch team as it is one of the few 'social' activities that she finds herself interested in. After Hogwarts I see her joining the Death Eaters in their campaign, or at the very least attempting to. She has the sneaking suspicion that she would not be welcome in their circle because of her muggle father. Perhaps a grand gesture before she departs Hogwarts for good?I would like for her to be on the Slytherin Quidditch team as it is one of the few 'social' activities that she finds herself interested in.
