MPs vote marriage equality for all

Today the attention of the world
is on Manurewa Maori MP Louisa Wall in appreciation of her
role steering a bill allowing same-sex marriage
through Parliament. The Marriage Equality Bill
passed last night in a conscience vote, 77 to 44. Ms Wall says she’s proud
to continue NZ’s legacy, being in the forefront
of human-rights legislation. She also appreciated support
and votes from other Maori MPs, including a powerful speech
from the Maori Party’s Te Ururoa Flavell and
the Green Party’s Metiria Turei.
